MEDITERRANEAN BOWLING CONFEDERATION (MBC)
ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY (OGA) MEETING MINUTES

1. Opening
The President of the Mediterranean Bowling Confederation (MBC), Mr. Marios Nicolaides, opened the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting and welcomed all attending delegates and member federations participating in the Mediterranean Bowling Championships 2026 in Zaprešić, Croatia.
2. Roll Call
The following member federations attended the meeting:
Croatia, Cyprus, France, Gibraltar, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Malta, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, and Türkiye.
The quorum requirements were met, and the General Assembly was declared validly constituted.
3. Approval of the Previous Year Progress Report
The General Assembly reviewed the annual progress report presented by the Mr. Marios Nicolaides.
The Assembly acknowledged and approved the following developments:
• The ongoing legal incorporation process of the Confederation in Cyprus.
• The long-term sponsorship agreement signed with Brunswick Bowling Products, LLC for the period 2026–2031.
• The continuation of the agreement with Bowling Planet regarding scoring services.
• The promotional and digital development activities carried out through the official MBC platform.
The progress report was unanimously approved as presented.
4. Adoption of the Activity Plan
Mr. Marios Nicolaides presented the MBC activity plan for the upcoming period, including:
• Completion of the legal registration process in Cyprus.
• Opening of the official MBC bank account.
• Development of sponsorship and commercial partnerships.
• Promotion of Mediterranean tournaments through MBC digital platforms.
• Planning of a future MBC Tour structure.
• Expansion of bowling activities and membership development within the Mediterranean region.
The activity plan was unanimously approved as presented.
5. Approval of Accounts and Budget
Mr. Marios Nicolaides presented the financial report for the year ending 31 December 2025 and the proposed budget for 2026 (attached).
The General Assembly approved:
• The 2025 financial accounts.
• The proposed 2026 budget.
• The financial procedures regarding sponsorship support and operational expenditures as presented in the meeting documentation.
It was additionally confirmed that the outstanding annual membership fees from federations that had not completed their 2025 payments were collected.
Furthermore, the General Assembly unanimously decided that federations failing to pay the annual membership fee for the respective year would not be permitted to participate in future MBC Championships until their financial obligations are fulfilled.
That until the MBC registration is finalized and a bank account is opened, all funds will be handled by the President, who will be responsible for making payments subject to the approval of the Executive Committee members.
The accounts and budget were unanimously approved as presented.
6. Election of Secretary General
One nomination was received for the position of Secretary General:
• Mr. Ümit Yıldırım (Türkiye)
As there was only one candidate for the position, Mr. Ümit Yıldırım was unanimously elected as Secretary General of the Mediterranean Bowling Confederation.
7. Election of Executive Committee Member
One nomination was received for the vacant Executive Committee Member position:
• Mr. Anouar Meziou (Tunisia)
As there was only one candidate for the position, Mr. Anouar Meziou was unanimously elected as Executive Committee Member of the Mediterranean Bowling Confederation.
8. 78D Rule
The Executive Committee proposal regarding the implementation of the 78D bowling ball rule was discussed. Following discussions among the member federations, the General Assembly decided to refer the matter back to the federations for further consideration with their respective committees and technical bodies. Each federation will submit its position on the adoption or non-adoption of the 78D rule, as recommended by the International Bowling Federation (IBF). Until a final decision is reached, the current bowling ball regulations and procedures will remain in force in MBC Championships.
The President, Mr. Nicolaides, referred to an email received from the President of the Cyprus Bowling Federation, Charalambos Charalambous, concerning this matter. The Executive Committee reviewed the communication and expressed serious concern regarding its wording, tone, and manner of address to Committee members. Several members considered the content inappropriate and not in line with the standards of professional conduct expected within the Confederation. Members further noted that the communication had created unnecessary tension within the organization.
The President of the Confederation and the Executive Committee requested an apology from the President of the Cyprus Bowling Federation, Charalambos Charalambous. An apology was subsequently given during the General Assembly. The matter was considered closed, with no further action required.
9. Mediterranean Bowling Championships 2027
The General Assembly confirmed that the Mediterranean Bowling Championships 2027 will be hosted by Portugal.
The event is scheduled to take place from 09–16 May 2027.
10. Closing
Mr. Marios Nicolaides thanked all delegates, federations, and organizers for their participation, cooperation, and contribution to the successful organization of the meeting and the Mediterranean Bowling Championships 2026.
The meeting was officially closed.
